Day 2: March 16

Pictures from our second day in Beijing:

Bicycles have the right of way.

City Buildings.
As we walked around the town, these were some of the sights to be seen.

Anne-Marie and Jane (salesperson) at the Fanghua Pearl Store.
This girl was awesome. She spoke perfect English and was a great help in picking out our gifts.

Chris by the Dressing Terrace.
The Dressing Terrrace is a square stone surrounded with white marble balustrades. This is where the emperor would come before the sacrificial ceremony to wash his hands and put on is ceremonial dress. After the ceremony, he would return to change back into his clothes before going back to the Imperial Palace.

Anne-Marie by the bridge.
Not an actual bridge over water, but a walkway connecting two parts of the park. It said that the bridge is set on an incline, and that as you walk you appear to be heading uphill towards Heaven.

Chris and Anne-Marie at the Temple of Heaven.

Group Dinner at Korean Restaurant
Chris, Mark, Linda, Dan , Ann, Dave, Deb, Bart and Kris.
I would be right next to Chris if I weren't the one taking the picture!!

That's a wrap for Day 2. Take Care All!

Day 1: March 14 and 15

Here are a few pictures from our first day

All packed and ready to go.
One suitcase weighed in at 68 lbs so we had to pay an over-the-limit -fee. Oh well. At least we have everything we need. (so far)

Our plane from Newark to Beijing.

Chris on the bus from Beijing Airport to the Jianghou Garden Hotel.
We were just glad to be on the ground and on our way.

The Jianghou Garden Hotel in Beijing.
This is how it looks at night. We are on the 5th floor of the hotel, right above the "E" in hotel.

That's it for now. Thanks for looking at yet another site. Our caringbridge site does not allow a lot of pics, so we figured we get a second site for all our Kodak moments.
